The Social Cheese Factory "Santa Rita" is a cooperative with limited legal responsibility which produces and matures genuine Parmesan cheese from Biological agriculture.
The 10 associated firms, all family run, are situated in the vicinity of the suburbs of Pompeano and Selva in the Council of Serramazzoni, a tourist centre in the province of Modena.
The fodder and the cereals are cultivated with biological agricultural techniques at an altitude of between 600 and 800 meters above sea level.
All the Parmesan cheeses produced by the Cheese Factory Santa Rita are brand marked and identified with the number "2895" as decreed by the Consortium regulating the Authenticity of Parmesan cheese.
Joining the Strategic Plan of Quality "Export" promoted by the Consortium itself has allowed the implementation of techniques of biological farming and are the best guarantee for the consumer as for hygiene, origin and quality of our Parmesan cheese.
The Cooperative Santa Rita adopts an open door policy and is therefore happy to invite everyone who wishes to visit the Cheese Factory and the associated firms to show you the process of agricultural production and biological farming.
In an uncontaminated environment characterized by a typical agricultural landscape you can also admire the Pompeano Castle (of the XIII century), which is of high interest for its architecture as well as being a truly "vegetable monument": the Casa Zanoli oak, aged more than 500 years!
